eard\, our communities win. Nonprofits have a close-up view of community n
eeds and can and should take advantage of their right to influence law and
engage in election season advocacy. After this workshop\, you will have a
clear understanding of what advocacy activities your 501(c)(3) can engage
in\, what communications count as lobbying\, and how to safely engage in
nonpartisan advocacy. \n\nParticipants will learn: \n\nHow federal tax law
permits lobbying for charities and how lobbying is defined.\nOne easy ste
p most charities can take to maximize the amount they’re allowed to spend
on lobbying.\nHow you can continue to advocate for your issues during elec
tion years.\nHow you can respond to candidate statements objectively.\nHow
you can conduct nonpartisan voter registration and ensure get-out-the-vot
e efforts are conducted legally.\nHow staff and volunteers’ partisan activ
ities in their personal time can be kept separate from their activities on
behalf of the organization.\nThis is an in-person event happening at INDU
