This in-person Management and Leadership Training Conference preconference session, held on January 27th from 1:00 – 5:00 pm ET in Orlando, Florida, is designed for Community Action Agency staff who support boards in fulfilling their leadership and fiduciary responsibilities.

In today’s turbulent environment, boards need financial leadership that is prepared for unexpected revenue shifts and understands their operational impact. While this level of financial literacy is not always standard among nonprofit boards, it is achievable with intentional support from agency leadership. This preconference focuses on strengthening board development efforts and equipping board members to lead confidently in financial oversight. Participants will explore strategies and processes that enhance board understanding, improve budget discussions, and support thoughtful decision making.

In this extended session, participants can expect:

Approaches for helping board members interpret financial information and connect it to agency priorities.

This session is offered in partnership with Nonprofit Financial Commons and features Ruth McCambridge, a nationally recognized expert in nonprofit financial and board leadership, who will share insights to help staff guide their boards in effective financial oversight.
