NCAP - Energy Justice for Indigenous Communities & Communities of Color

Wednesday, June 5, 2024
10:00 am11:00 am

Join Groundswell and leaders from the climate space as we look at how leaders in the climate space address the disproportionate impact of climate change on communities of color. This panel will share insight into proven solutions already making a positive difference for communities of color.

Energy justice has received more attention in recent years and is at the core of the Justice40 Initiative. Justice40 aims to bring 40 percent of the overall benefits of recent Federal climate, clean energy, affordable and sustainable housing, and other investments to disadvantaged communities. Energy justice, by definition, promotes equity, affordability, and accessibility for individuals and communities regardless of race, nationality, income, or geographic location.

During this webinar, attendees will hear about the strategies being used to overcome energy challenges that disproportionately impact communities of color from leaders who have seen different solutions put to the test, including Dianne Dillon-Ridgley (Changemaker and Activist), Ryman LeBeau (Oceti Sakowin Power Authority Board Member) and Tiffani Lawson (Resiliency Program Manager at Groundswell).

This webinar is part of Groundswell’s ongoing Energy Futures series, where we host conversations about how communities and organizations can work together to build equitable clean energy futures that align with the needs of individual communities.
